How to Use Huxing
Importing a floor plan
- When you don't have a floor plan yet, the card in the middle of the screen has three entry points: “LiDAR Scan” (needs an iPhone or iPad with LiDAR: iPhone 12 Pro and later Pro / Pro Max models, and iPad Pro from 2020 on; it scans on the device and uses no quota), “Upload Plan” (a screenshot or photo from your photo library), and “Take Photo”; the card also has a “Try a Sample Floor Plan” row. PDFs aren't accepted: take a screenshot first, then upload it. On devices without LiDAR, “Upload Plan” comes first and “LiDAR Scan” comes last and is grayed out; tapping it explains that this device can't scan.
- When you already have a floor plan, the “+” to the left of the input box opens “Import Home Info”: floor plans, hand-drawn measurements, elevations, and photos all work. Use “Take Photo” or choose from “Photo Library”; you can also “LiDAR Scan” here (look at a level or enter a room first). The images are sent together with whatever is in the input box: a plan of another level goes to that level, elevations and sketches are applied as changes, and photos of the real room are saved as that room's reference images for renderings.
- You can also skip the image and describe the floor plan in the input box (how many bedrooms and living rooms, area, orientation); the assistant draws it.
- Imports and scans can be undone (“Undo” at the bottom left of the reply bubble).
Viewing: 2D, 3D, and entering a room
- “2D / 3D” on the toolbar at the top switches between the floor plan and 3D; the “Dimensions” switch next to it (ruler icon) shows dimensions, and in 3D it becomes “Walls” (tap to cycle: Exterior Cutaway / Exterior Cutaway, Low Interior Walls / Full Walls). When the toolbar runs out of room, some buttons move into the “…” at the far right.
- On iPhone Duo, the toolbar runs down the right side of the screen: 2D / 3D is at the top (it shows the current view; tap to switch), and the menu is in the bottom corner. Above the menu is the chat icon, which hides or shows the input box at the bottom.
- The floor plan goes level by level: site → house / yard → room. At site level, tap the house to select it (the bar shows a house icon), then tap “Enter” to go into the house; tap the yard to select it, then tap “Enter” to go into the yard. Inside the yard, double-tap a tree, shrub, pool, or fence: the view switches to 3D with the camera framed on that item and its details card opens; tap × or swipe right from the left edge to go back to the yard with the item still selected. Inside the house, tap a room to select it, then tap “Enter” to go inside: in 2D, if you selected a room you first see its floor, with the hint “Pull down for wall elevation” at the top; pull down for the wall elevation, one wall per page: swipe left or right for another wall (hints “Swipe right to switch” and “Swipe left to switch” at the edges), swipe up or down for the ceiling and floor; in 3D you stand in the room and look around. In 3D, × or a right swipe from the left edge first returns to 2D at the same level (house, yard, or room); press again to go up one level. The small floor plan at the top left, or “Back” at the front of the toolbar, takes you back outside.
- Inside the house or a room, tap a door, window, or piece of furniture to select it, then tap “Details” on the selection bar: a card opens above the input box. Double-tap a door, window, or piece of furniture — same as a tree in the yard — to switch straight to 3D with the camera framed on it and its card open. The first row is the type (swap to another item of the same kind), then each setting the item has (a hinged door's hinge and swing, a corner sofa's side). A door or window sizes by width, height, and sill height (windows only) with − / +; hold to keep adjusting, and the change lands when you let go. Furniture picks its size from its size options, and its width, depth, and height follow. For furniture, lights, and stairs, tap “Orientation” to turn it 90° clockwise. Each change takes effect at once and can be undone; you cannot change anything while a turn is running. While a door or window's card is open the view focuses on it: the rest of the floor plan fades, and in 3D the other walls and furniture fade too. Tap “Back” to leave. Inside a room with nothing selected, the selection bar shows the room itself: tap “Details” to change its name and floor (tap “Close” to put it away). Tap a wall to select it, then “Details” to change its thickness and what it is (solid wall, low wall, railing, or no wall).
- In a multi-level home, select the building and pick “Whole Building” or a level from the tree at the left of the selection bar; the whole building in 2D is the exterior elevation, swipe left or right for another side. When not zoomed in, you can also pull the floor plan down to see the exterior elevation (hint “Pull down for exterior elevation”), then push it back up to return.
- Turn with two fingers on the floor plan to rotate the whole drawing a quarter turn; the orientation doesn't change, only the way it's drawn.
- When the home's north is set, a north arrow appears at the top right of the floor plan and the exterior elevation (the end marked “N” points north): on the floor plan it turns with the drawing, on the exterior elevation it's drawn for the side you're facing. Without a set north there is no arrow.
- Inside a room you can long-press a door, window, or piece of furniture and drag it; it takes effect when you let go and can be undone. On the overall floor plan, selecting a room shows shared handles: drag a room corner and every room sharing it moves together (doors and windows keep their place on the wall); select a wall and drag the wall line to push or pull the whole wall; select a door or window to change its offset along the wall in the detail card. All other changes go through the chat.
- Long-press and drag trees or shrubs in the yard; release to apply, and undo is available. Tap a pool or the courtyard boundary (or “Edit” on the yard bar) to show the same shape handles: drag a vertex to reshape, drag an edge midpoint to adjust the arc, tap an edge midpoint to insert a point, and tap a vertex then the × above it to delete it. Deleting removes the vertex and joins its two neighbours with a straight line, so an arc is dropped; the whole change is rejected with a reason if the yard would no longer be valid (inside the yard, off the house, attachments, and so on). Drag inside a free-outline pool to move the whole shape (all vertices by the same offset); for a standard pool, drag the centre to move it, drag either axis end to resize (a circle keeps both axes equal), and drag the dot outside the pool to rotate it. This version has no “Convert to standard pool / Convert to free outline” button on the canvas; ask in chat to convert (for example “make the pool a standard rectangle”), the original outline is not kept, and if an attachment on the pool would no longer fit the whole change is rejected and reverted. Select a pool and tap “Details” to adjust depth, water colour and entry side; set the step count (0 means none), step width and tread depth. One drag is one undo step; shapes cannot be changed while a turn is running.
Display settings
- “Menu” (three lines) › “Settings” › “Display”: the “Color Floor Plan” switch (on, floors show color and texture; off gives a line drawing), “Appearance” (Match System / Light / Dark), “Units” (Metric / Imperial), and “Language”. Changes take effect immediately and are remembered.
- Units sets how dimensions, areas, and typed-in sizes are written: Metric uses millimeters and square meters; Imperial uses feet and inches (to the nearest half inch, e.g. 12′ 6½″) and square feet (ft²), and you can type 12' 6", 12 ft 6 in, or 150". It's first set from your phone's region; after that, this setting decides.
- Huxing follows your phone's language (an unsupported one shows English). To change it for Huxing alone, tap “Language” on the Settings page (it shows the current one). With two or more preferred languages on your iPhone, that opens Huxing's page in the system Settings; with only one, a note says to add another under iPhone Settings › General › Language & Region first.
- Dimensions and 3D walls are toggled with “Dimensions” and “Walls” on the toolbar.
- You can also ask in the chat for a one-tap switch button.
Chat: what to say, how to change things
- Just say what you want changed (“extend the kitchen 2 feet to the south”, “put a king bed in the primary bedroom”, “wood floors throughout”); the change appears on the drawing right away.
- Tap a room, door, window, or piece of furniture on the drawing first, and “this” or “this wall” refers to it.
- Each reply appears in a bubble below the drawing. A turn that changed the floor plan has “Undo” at the bottom left, which goes back to before that turn; tap it again to step further back (up to three steps); my suggestions for the next step are buttons you can tap, on the right of the same row. While I'm working, the top right is a stop button. Pull the bubble down to collapse it, leaving only a thin bar above the input box; tap it or pull up to bring it back. Once a turn is done, the grey check at the top right collapses it the same way.
Renderings and sharing
- The group next to the menu on the toolbar (hidden when the floor plan is empty): when viewing in 3D, the icon with “AI” inside a viewfinder frame is “AI Rendering”, which frames the view first—turn to the angle you want and pick an aspect ratio at the bottom (4:3, 3:4, 16:9, 9:16, square); what's in the frame is what gets rendered. Tap “Next”, then pick a style, add details and reference images, and tap “Generate”. While framing, the viewfinder camera icon at the top right (on iPhone Duo, in the bar on the right), “Save to Photos”, saves what's in the frame straight to Photos. When viewing in 2D, the same spot is “Share” (an upward arrow icon): tapping it opens a menu. “Save Current Sheet” draws the whole current page (a floor plan, an elevation, a wall, a ceiling or floor view) as one large picture with your current switches (dimensions, line or color plan, light or dark) and opens the share sheet (which has “Save Image”); “Export CAD (All Sheets)” writes all floor plans and the four elevations into one DXF file and opens the share sheet / Files. The photo icon is “Renderings”, which opens all your renderings (a sheet that pops up; on a phone, pull it up to see it full screen); before you have any, it reads “Create renderings with AI in the 3D view; they will appear here”, and you can also tap “AI Rendering” in it (in 2D it switches to 3D first). “AI Rendering” and “Share” always stay on the toolbar and never move into the “…”.
- You can also say it in the chat: “render the living room in a natural wood style”. The bubble first asks “Make this rendering?” — tap “Make it” to create it and use one rendering from your plan, or “Don't make it” to skip it. Finished renderings appear in the bubble and in “Renderings”; open one to zoom in, hold to compare with the input image, save to Photos, share, or delete.
- Asking in the chat for a “floor plan” or a “dimension drawing” saves the whole current drawing straight to Photos, without the share sheet and without adding it to “Renderings”.
- Each rendering uses quota; sharing or saving a drawing doesn't.
Measure (LiDAR models)
- Select a door, window, or piece of furniture, tap “Details” on the selection bar, then tap “Measure” at the bottom of the card. Follow the on-screen prompts to move closer and face it straight on; once locked, the measured width and height (and the sill height for windows) are written back to the house, and can be undone. Models without LiDAR don't show this row, and neither does furniture with only one size whose dimensions can't change.
My Floor Plans
- Menu › “My Floor Plans”: a list of all your floor plans. Tap a card to switch; long-press one to “Rename” or “Delete” (after deleting, a bar at the bottom lets you undo for a few seconds); “+” at the top left creates a new one. “New Floor Plan” in the menu is another way to create one.
- Each card shows a thumbnail, the name, and when it was last changed; plans with renderings also show a small photo icon and the count next to the name.
- Floor plans sync with your account; when you're not signed in they stay on this phone only. If the same floor plan was changed on two devices, opening it asks whether to “Overwrite with This Device's Version” or “Discard This Device's Changes”, showing when each side was changed; the others show an orange conflict badge in the top-right corner of their card.
Account and quota
- The bottom row of the menu is “Sign In to Sync”, or “Account” once you're signed in: after you sign in, your data follows your account, so you get it back on a new phone or after reinstalling; floor plans made before signing in are merged into the account. Once signed in, tap this row to open the account page, where you can “Sign Out” or “Delete Account”.
- Recognition, chat, and renderings have a free monthly quota; when it's used up you can subscribe to Huxing Pro. The quota shown in the app is what counts. If your subscription isn't active after changing phones, tap “Restore Purchases” at the top left of the subscription page. To cancel, go to Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions on your iPhone; deleting your Huxing account doesn't cancel the subscription.
- Delete account: when signed in, Menu › Account › “Delete Account”; when not signed in, Menu › Settings › “Delete Account” at the bottom. Deleting removes your floor plans, renderings, and chat history, and can't be undone.
